How To Rip Your Own Jeans

I’m willing to bet you have a pair of jeans that just sit in your dresser drawer. These jeans usually never fit correctly, they just don’t look right on, or they are just out of style. How can you add that extra oomph and bring them out into the sunlight again? Just add rips.

Honestly, the more rips the better if you ask me. Holes in my jeans bring out my inner rock star and take my normal uniform of jeans and a t-shirt to a new level.

All you need is a pair of jeans, scissors, a piece of cardboard,  and your own creativity. Keep reading to find out how to take your jeans from blah to chic.

Before you start stressing your jeans, you want put them on. Get a feel for where you want the tears to be; if you need to you can even mark the spot with fabric chalk in order to help you. This will help you keep in mind your body’s curves (i.e. your knees and hips). Once you know the location you want the rips lay your jeans out flat on a flat surface.

The first thing you’re going to do and one of the most important things is putting a piece of cardboard in the jeans before you start. You don’t want holes in the front and the back in the same spots, do you? Once you have the cardboard in place, you’re ready to start stressing your jeans.

You want to make sure you hold down on the jeans so you have a tight grip. Hold your scissors horizontally and start rubbing them up and down in the spot that you want the rip. At this point you’ll start to notice that it looks like the holes you pay extra for in the store. Keep doing this until the hole is the size you would like.
